What is Estudio Español?

Estudio Español is the coming together of years of learning and teaching Spanish and is excited to offer a number of Spanish learning opportunities. Its name means I study Spanish and its aim is simply to help you enjoy learning Spanish within a bespoke learning “estudio” at 45 Templehill, Troon.

If you like travelling to Spanish speaking places and would also like to have the knowledge and confidence to get fully involved in the local way of life then Estudio Español can help you.

By attending Estudio Español you’ll take part in friendly and fun classes where you can enjoy learning with other people and try out a range of carefully planned activities and games that will soon have you communicating accurately in Spanish! You’ll also be able to contribute feedback on a regular basis with a view to always improving your learning experience and ensuring your needs are met.  

For those interested in a more bespoke service, including SQA exam tutoring, private lessons can be arranged to suit your requirements. Here you’ll really benefit from the teaching experience behind Estudio Español as it is run by Phillida Forsell – a qualified and GTCS registered Spanish teacher with over 15 years of experience helping learners to achieve their Spanish targets.

Behind Estudio Español

My Spanish learning journey started at 17. Having always wanted to learn the language I signed up for an evening class and with the basics mastered, found a job in Seville, Spain where I picked up a level of Spanish that enabled me to study it at University.

I spent the third year of University living and working in Madrid; studying at a local University and teaching adults English in a private academy. In my spare time, I travelled to as many Spanish places as possible making the most of the Spanish way of life.

After University, I seized an opportunity to return to Spain and spent 3 years working in a property company in central Madrid. When I returned to Scotland, I decided to share my passion for Spain and learning Spanish with other people. As well as teaching adult learners, I have been working in Secondary Education for over 15 years.  

I’ve travelled to Spain and Spanish speaking countries whenever possible enjoying beach holidays, music festivals and the nightlife of course! In addition, some of my favourite moments include skiing in the Sierra Nevada, hiking up a live volcano in Guatemala, swimming in a cenote in Mexico, visiting the famous local markets in Otavalo, Ecuador and doing the Inca Trail in Peru.

For me, learning Spanish has been truly transformational. As a result, I’m passionate about supporting other people to enhance their lives through travel and languages. Creating and running Estudio Español has been the next step on this route for me and I look forward to helping you achieve your targets in Spanish too!
